Our Story
Modern Holiness was born out of a simple frustration: finding faith-based goods that reflect the styles of the 21st-century Catholic.
I love being Catholic. I wanted to express that pride with the same casual confidence you’d show for your favorite sports team or band. But when I searched for ways to display my faith, the market seemed to confirm a hurtful stigma: that level of commitment belonged only to the deeply devout and overtly pious.
Traditional Catholic art—beautiful as it may be—felt sequestered from everyday life, better suited for a museum or adorning cathedral walls.
Why should we have to choose between our faith and our aesthetic? The answer is simple: We shouldn’t.
Driven by the need to create something minimalist, stylish, and refined, I pulled inspiration from classic stained glass imagery, using geometric shapes and straight lines to translate role models of the Faith into contemporary visuals.
In doing so, my goal is to depict the saints in a way that feels less distant. After all, the saints were ordinary people like you and me.
Think about that. YOU could be a future saint.
My prayer is that every piece of art, every article of clothing, and every accessory created by Modern Holiness serves as a gentle, daily reminder that sainthood is attainable for the everyday person.
Grounded in Grace
When illustrating a saint, my process begins with prayer—specifically, requesting the saint’s intercession. I ask for two things: that the artwork is a reverent and honorable representation of their likeness, and, most importantly, that they pray for anyone who obtains the piece. If you have a special devotion to a particular saint, my hope is that their presence in your home serves as a blessing and a continual reminder of their friendship on your journey.

A portion of the proceeds from every Modern Holiness purchase is directly donated to Catholic organizations and charities. My desire is that every piece can create beauty both inside your home and out in the world. Hey! I'm Johnny, the guy behind Modern Holiness.
I built this brand from the marriage of my professional life as a Creative Director and working in the Catholic nonprofit world. I come from deep Catholic roots, counting a cardinal of Chicago and a secretary to St. Padre Pio among my relatives (I know, right?!). Needless to say, faith has always been an integral part of my life. It’s my love of Catholicism and minimalist design that inspired me to create art that bridges the gap between the sanctuary and the modern aesthetic.
